It has been learned from the documents of the fake company that smuggled 1.5 quintal gold by a Chinese citizen that this company has smuggled 1800 kg gold in the last three months. The accused was caught by the Nepal Custom Department with 155 kg of gold. Gold was brought to India through courier.

In fact, looking at the import papers of the company formed just three months ago in the name of Ready Traders, which are deposited with the Customs Department of the airport, it is known that on the pattern on which one and a half quintal gold has been recovered this time, 1800 kg of goods have been imported in the last three months. It is believed that the goods imported secretly were gold and it was brought here for smuggling. There was a plan to take it to India.

An official of Nepal’s Department of Revenue Intelligence says that the way this time about one and a half quintal gold was brought hidden in brake soles, brake pads, similarly in the last three months only 1800 kg of brake soles and brake pads were imported from China to Nepal via Hong Kong.

Interrogating the people who have been arrested so far, it has come to know that even the owners of this fake company were not allowed to open the consignment that used to come from Hong Kong to Nepal. After being removed from the customs department of the airport, all these consignments were directly delivered to the places of the Chinese citizen who had taken them on rent.

Over 1000 kg gold seized in last 11 months

The extent to which gold smuggling is taking place in Nepal can be gauged from the official figures only. In the last 11 months, the Customs Department has seized more than 1000 kg of gold. According to the data of the Customs Department at Tribhuvan Airport in Kathmandu, 1087 kg of illegal gold brought through the airport was recovered in the last 11 months. That is, every month at least 100 kg of gold has been seized by the Customs Department.

541 kg gold returned after customs duty

According to Narad Gautam, Acting Head of Customs Department at Tribhuvan Airport, out of 1087 kg gold seized in the last 11 months, 541 kg gold was returned to the concerned person after paying custom duty. But 586 kg gold is still seized with the custom department. Most of the gold is brought from places like Dubai, Qatar, Hong Kong etc. Among them, there is some gold that people have brought beyond the government limit, but mostly it is gold that smugglers send as couriers to the travelers coming to Nepal by luring them with money.

Nepal Revenue Department caught 155 kg gold on Wednesday

Let us tell you that on Wednesday, the Revenue Department of Nepal had received a confidential information that about one quintal of gold was being taken out from Kathmandu airport. After this, the officials of the Revenue Department reached the airport, but it was found that after custom clearance, the gold had just left from there after keeping it in a taxi. The Revenue Department official sealed all the way to the airport with the help of the police. Then all the taxis were searched. The taxi was found near the main gate exiting the airport, in which 155 kg gold was being taken out.

Smuggling by making fake company, Chinese citizen mastermind

The company was registered only last month in the name of a young man working as a laborer at Tribhuvan Airport in Kathmandu. This company had talked about importing brake pads of vehicles. The gold sent from Singapore was being sent by keeping it in this break swell. Investigators estimate that gold was being smuggled continuously for the last one month through this fake company Ready Traders only for the purpose of smuggling gold. In the case of smuggling of one and a half quintal gold, the Nepal Police has arrested a Chinese citizen, Jikwang Ling, while fleeing from the airport to China. He was living in Nepal for the last one year.

Gold was brought to India through courier

The team probing gold smuggling estimates that one quintal of gold was being smuggled daily in the name of this fake company. The police have detained Thapten Tshiring, an Indian citizen of Tibetan origin, in connection with the investigation of gold smuggling. During interrogation, Chhiring has admitted that he used to deliver gold consignments coming to Nepal via Singapore through courier to the border area of ​​India. The official of the Revenue Department says that the consignment of gold coming to Nepal was sent through various routes to India.
