Protesters Try To Storm Baghdad Green Zone Over Burning Of Quran And Iraq Flag In Denmark

Quran Burning: Last month, on the day of Bakrid, the matter of burning Quran in Sweden’s capital Stockholm had not settled yet that on Friday (July 21) an anti-Muslim group insulted this holy book in Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark. There was a demonstration in the early hours of Saturday (July 22) in Baghdad, the capital of Iraq, where hundreds of protesters attacked the heavily guarded Green Zone. Please tell that all foreign embassies are here.

On Friday, a ultra-nationalist group called ‘Danske Patriot’ burnt the holy book in front of Iraq’s embassy in Copenhagen, which has angered the people of Iran. The security forces present on the spot dispersed the protesters after a lot of effort. Heavy security personnel had blocked the Jamhuriya bridge leading to the Green Zone, preventing them from reaching the Danish Embassy.

There was a huge demonstration two days ago

Significantly, two days ago, huge protests were witnessed in Baghdad, when protesters stormed the Swedish Embassy. In fact, the protesters were furious that the Swedish police had given permission to burn the Quran once more.

Angry Iraqis set fire to the Swedish embassy compound in Baghdad over the re-granting of permission. It was a matter of honor that in view of the possibility of increasing ruckus, the employees of the embassy were evacuated a day before.

Quran insulted for the second time in Sweden

Within hours of this demonstration, Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammad Shia al-Sudani broke off diplomatic relations with Sweden in protest against the desecration of the Quran. He also called back his diplomat from Sweden.

Let us tell you that the person who burnt a copy of the Quran during a demonstration in Stockholm last month had threatened to do the same thing again on Thursday. It is alleged that the Swedish police gave him permission, after which he insulted the Holy Quran. He also insulted the Iraqi flag and the photo of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Islamic countries are enraged by this incident.
