Hollywood has made arrangements for solid entertainment in theaters for the cinema fans of India. The clash of two big Hollywood films was discussed worldwide this weekend. The fire of this clash reached the Indian box office as well and both the films made strong money here too.

Director Christopher Nolan’s previous films – The Batman Trilogy, Interstellar and Dunkirk; Indian cinema fans also live in the list of favorite films. The public’s craze for his new film ‘Oppenheimer’ remained at the next level and shows of the film were sold-out for the whole weekend in many theaters even before its release. Along with this, Margo Robbie starrer ‘Barbie’ was also released in theatres. Solid atmosphere was seen in India for this film as well and it got solid response from the public in advance booking.

At the worldwide box office, ‘Barbie’ is earning more than ‘Oppenheimer’. But the reverse trend was seen in India. But both the films combined attracted huge crowds in Indian theatres. Trade reports are telling that this weekend both the films have earned a lot in India.

Oppenheimer’s boom in India
‘Oppenheimer’ starring Cillian Murphy, legend scientist J.J. Robert Oppenheimer’s biopic. Oppenheimer is one of the most iconic figures associated with World War II. America used the nuclear weapons made under his supervision on Japan, which is one of the biggest incidents in the history of the world. Killian is playing the role of Oppenheimer in the film.

‘Oppenheimer’ earned Rs 14.5 crore on Friday, which is the biggest opening of a Hollywood film in India this year. The film collected more than Rs 17 crore on Saturday with a solid jump. Now trade reports are telling that the film has earned a lot on Sunday as well. According to estimates, on the third day the film has collected in the range of Rs 18 crores.

‘Oppenheimer’ earns better than Hindi films
Nolan’s film has collected almost 50 crores in its first weekend on Indian Weekend. Except for ‘Pathan’, this year’s hit Hindi films have also not been able to earn 50 crores in the first weekend. Where ‘Satyaprem Ki Katha’ and ‘The Kerala Story’ collected less than 40 crores in the first weekend. On the other hand, the weekend collection of ‘Zara Hatke Zara Bachke’ was a little less than Rs 23 crore.

The first weekend collection of Ranbir Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor’s ‘Tu Jhoothi Main Makkar’ was more than 70 crores. But the opening weekend collection of this film, released on Wednesday, includes 5 days’ earnings. Prabhas’s ‘Adipurush’ and Salman Khan’s ‘Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan’ had earned more than 50 crores in the first weekend. But both these were films of big superstars and after the first weekend, their earnings fell in such a way that they could not become hits.

Solid earnings of ‘Barbie’ too
‘Barbie’, directed by Greta Gerwig, also had a strong atmosphere even before its release. Before its release in India, more than 90 thousand tickets were sold in advance in national chains. In the international market, the film’s earnings are running almost double than ‘Oppenheimer’. In India, ‘Barbie’ may be lagging behind Nolan’s film, but its earnings are also going solid.

On Friday, ‘Barbie’ opened its account at the Indian box office with Rs 5 crore. The film earned 6.50 crores on Saturday with a good jump. In reports, the India collection of ‘Barbie’ on Sunday is believed to be more than Rs 7 crore. That is, in the first weekend, ‘Barbie’ has made a net collection of almost Rs 19 crore in India.

This figure may seem small compared to ‘Oppenheimer’, but still it is quite solid. ‘Barbie’ is neither a sequel to the big Hollywood franchise nor is it a superhero film. It is not even a film of a Hollywood director whose cinema is a brand in itself and for which the Indian public waits with bated breath. Nevertheless, the weekend collection of ‘Barbie’ was better than many popular Bollywood releases.

Hollywood star Tom Cruise’s film ‘Mission Impossible 7’, which released in India on 12th July, is inching towards the milestone of 100 crores. Latest Hollywood releases ‘Oppenheimer’ and ‘Barbie’ are also showing strength at the Indian box office. These days Hollywood films are running rampant at the Indian box office.
