New job scam Woman lost over Rs 13 lakh for like and subscribe YouTube job offer – Tech news hindi

Youtube Job Scam: A Greater Noida woman fell victim to a WhatsApp message that caused her a loss of over Rs 13 lakh. The woman received a message offering a chance to win money by doing work from home. They were asked to watch, like and subscribe to YouTube videos to win money. Infuriated by this, Karthika contacted the fraudsters through a Telegram handle where she was promised daily returns ranging from Rs 50 to Rs 5,000.

Initially, the scammers credited Rs 150 to Karthika’s account as a reward for liking and subscribing to videos on YouTube. Encouraged by the meager amount, he continued his work. They then convinced him to invest in a fake Nasdaq website, claiming higher returns. After investing Rs 2,000, the scammers allegedly returned Rs 3,150 as profit on the same day.

The fraudsters continued to pay Karthika for the job, asking her to send huge amounts (Rs 5,000, Rs 30,000 and Rs 90,000) in return. These transactions went on and on, and Kartika kept sending money in the hope of recovering her money.

To continue funding the transaction, Karthika and her husband applied for personal loans, which kept piling up their debt. Then the scamsters told that it is necessary to meet the limit of Rs 15 lakh. Fearing for their financial well-being, Karthika and her husband continued to make the payments, even after realizing they might be victims of fraud.

At one point, the fraudsters demanded an additional Rs 5,20,000 as tax. It was then that the couple finally realized that they had been duped and decided to file a police complaint. However, attempts to withdraw money from the fake Nasdaq website were in vain.

Police have registered a case of cheating against unknown offenders under section 66D of the Information Technology (Amendment) Act, 2008. This unfortunate incident highlights the importance of being cautious about online offers and not falling prey to such scams which can lead to financial loss.
