The Port of Spain Test match between India and West Indies ended in a draw. Due to rain on the fifth day of the match, not a single ball could be played. With the match being drawn, India captured the two-match Test series 1-0. India won the Test match played in Dominica by an innings and 141 runs.

In this match, India had given West Indies a target of 365 runs to win, chasing which the hosts scored 76 runs for two wickets till the end of the fourth day’s play. Indian fans expected that on the fifth day, Team India would clean up the hosts in the Test series by taking the remaining eight wickets, but the intermittent rain spoiled the fun. India has been able to clean sweep the West Indies only once at its home. In the year 2019, under the captaincy of Virat Kohli, India won both the Test matches.

Team India scored 438 runs in their first innings thanks to Virat Kohli’s brilliant 121 runs. In response, the West Indies team scored 255 runs in the first innings, due to which India got a lead of 183 runs on the basis of the first innings. After this, India declared its second innings at 181 runs for two wickets and gave a big target to the Windies. Mohammad Siraj, who took five wickets in the first innings, was adjudged Player of the Match.

This is India’s fifth consecutive series win against the West Indies on its soil. The last time West Indies won a Test series against Team India on their own land was in the year 2002. Since then India has been completely dominating. If seen, the West Indies team could not win a single Test against India for 21 years at home or away.

In the year 2006, under the captaincy of Rahul Dravid, India won the four-match Test series 1-0. Then in the year 2011, under the captaincy of MS Dhoni, Team India won the series 1-0 in the West Indies. On the other hand, in the 2016 and 2019 series, under the leadership of Virat Kohli, India won two consecutive Test series by a margin of 2-0. Now Rohit Sharma’s team has maintained this series by winning 1-0. Overall, this was India’s sixth Test series win on West Indies soil.

In total, Team India has played 100 Test matches against the West Indies, in which it won 23 and lost 30, while 47 matches were drawn. India has won 17 out of 53 Test matches on the soil of West Indies and lost nine. Overall, India has lost only two Test matches against the West Indies in the 21st century.
