Google Suggested To Update Android KitKat Os Device Before August 2023

If you have a smartphone with the old Android KitKat operating system, then there is important news for you. Alerting such users, Google has announced that it will no longer provide support or updates for such smartphones. The company has made this announcement when it is focusing on the latest and more secure version of the Android operating system to provide better experience and security.

Support will end in August 2023

According to the news, Google told on the Android (Android) Developers Blog that it will now stop releasing support for KitKat (Android KitKat) in the upcoming release of Google Play Service. However, Google also told that it has taken this step only when the number of such active smartphones has come down below one percent. According to India Today news, Google said that Google Play Services will stop updates for KitKat (API level 19 and 20) from August 2023. In the official blog post, Google said that the devices will not get the version of Play Services APK more than 23.30.99.

Why is support for KitKat ending?

The KitKat (Android KitKat) edition of the operating system was introduced by Google in the year 2013. After such a long time, due to the rapid upgrade of technology, Google found that KitKat OS has become outdated and can no longer support the security and improvements associated with new technology. Android introduced many improvements and features not available on KitKat.

What can Android users do?

Google users have been advised to upgrade their Android devices to newer versions, such as Android 10 or the latest Android 11. So that security and facilities can be provided. With this, users will get the latest features and bug fixes. They will also be able to continue using the Android service. Let us tell you, earlier in 2021, Google had removed its support for Jelly Bean operating system on API 16 and 18.
