In Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur Kheri district, the STF and the local police have recovered 359 boxes of expensive English liquor being smuggled inside coal sacks. This liquor was being sent from Haryana to Bihar via UP where complete prohibition is in force.

It is being told that the UP STF had received information from the informer that about 359 cases of liquor from Haryana were being taken to Bihar by hiding them under sacks of coal inside two different trucks.

Based on this information, UP STF along with Kheri police started checking vehicles on the state highway going from Haryana to Bihar in Fardhan police station area. Meanwhile, he found a truck in suspicious condition on the roadside which was matching with the information given by the informer.

Then the officers and employees of UP STF and Kheri police together started searching the vehicle and saw that liquor boxes were filled under the sacks of coal. Together with the driver of the truck, the police also recovered the other truck and the accompanying car. About 359 cases of liquor were recovered from the vehicles. Police has so far arrested 4 people in this case.

Lakhimpur’s CO City Sandeep Singh told that information was received that liquor is being smuggled in trucks from Haryana. He had to supply it in Bihar. After getting the information, the STF team and officials started checking the vehicles on the road. In the case of liquor smuggling, 2 people have been arrested by truck and 2 people by car. The cost of the seized liquor is around Rs 50 lakh.
