Due to monsoon, havoc of rain is being seen in most of the states of the country. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for rain in Mumbai on Saturday. Heavy rains were recorded in many areas of Mumbai this morning. Heavy water logging has happened in Kurla, Chembur, Andheri. Due to this Andheri Subway also had to be closed for some time.

Heavy waterlogging in low-lying areas of Mumbai

Heavy rains were recorded in Mumbai on Friday as well. Low-lying areas in Andheri, Kurla, Ghatkopar, Chembur and some other places were waterlogged. Due to this, Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) Limited diverted buses on more than 12 routes.

How much rain fell on Friday?

More than 100 mm of rain was recorded at the Santa Cruz Weather Bureau in 9 hours on Friday. According to the IMD, from 8.30 am to 5.30 pm on Friday, the suburb recorded an average of 115.2 mm, while the city (Colaba Weather Bureau) recorded an average of 92.2 mm of rain.

Traffic disrupted due to heavy rain

After heavy rains, traffic jams were witnessed in many parts of the city. Due to this, the traffic was disrupted for a long time. Andheri and Dahisar subways were flooded for some time. At present, the suburban local train network is functioning normally. Apart from this, people have been advised not to go near the sea.

How will be the weather in Mumbai today

According to the Meteorological Department, today i.e. on Saturday, the minimum temperature in Mumbai can be 25 degrees and the maximum temperature can be 29 degrees. There will be clouds in the sky. During this, there is a possibility of heavy rain.

Red alert for rain in Raigad, Thane and Palghar

Along with Mumbai, a red alert has been issued for rain in neighboring districts like Raigad, Thane and Palghar. In Thane and Palghar, all schools were ordered to be closed for the second consecutive day. IMD has predicted heavy rains in Mumbai, Thane, Palghar and Pune today. At the same time, heavy to very heavy rains can be seen in the Vidarbha region of Maharashtra.
